TOLLGATE A are closing in on defending their Colchester and District Table Tennis League premier division title.

They beat their sister team Tollgate B 8-2 to pull ten points clear of second-placed Rowhedge, with a game in hand on their rivals.

Trevor Lloyd and Colin Stallwood were both unbeaten.

Rowhedge could only match Tollgate’s result against Lawford A, with Richard Hutchinson and Paul Broxton winning all of their games.

Lawford B recorded their first win of the division one season by beating fellow strugglers Tollesbury A, 6-4.

Lawford's Mark Seymour won all of his games but both teams still have a mountain to climb to avoid relegation.

In their second game of the week, Lawford lost 7-3 to Rowhedge C, for whom Neil Huatan and Ronnie Kullick achieved maximums.

St James C beat Walton B 6-4, with Andy Vincent taking his win record to 90 per cent.

In division two, Ed Rudge was in fine form for Rowhedge E who lead the way after beating Tollesbury B 7-3.

Gt Horkesley B recorded a very impressive 8-2 victory over a strong Tollgate E side, with Phil Wolski achieving a maximum twice in the same season in the division for the first time.

Rowhedge G beat Dedham A who only had two players, 9-1.

Jared Chelski continued his unbeaten record, with Ken James and Jamie Morgan winning all of their games.

Kamil Lentas achieved a maximum for Rowhedge F who beat Pegasus B, 7-3.

Division three leaders, Tollgate F overcame second-placed Tollgate G 7-3, with Arran Hutchinson winning all of his games.

Pegasus D achieved the unlikely and dubious honour of losing all ten coin tosses against Gt Horkesley C.

Tollesbury C lead division four by two points after winning 7-3 against Pegasus G, for whom Roy Cole was standout player after winning all of his games.

Rowhedge H are second with a game in hand, while Ken Huang won all of his games for Tollgate H in their 5-5 draw with Gt Horkesley E.
