HANNAH Hodgkinson struck gold for Colchester-based Hi-Tension Trampoline Club at the third National League competition of the season.

She has now qualified for the League Final at the Olympic Park's Velodrome in November, following her triumph in South Shields.

Hannah completed two outstanding routines in the League Three 15-16 Women’s age group, where she competed with 43 other gymnasts.

She led after the first two rounds with a total score of 80.405, securing 100 league points.

Hannah held on to her lead in the final, when scores are put back to zero and scored 43.360, a three-round total score of 123.765.

That was was almost a whole mark ahead of second place, securing her gold.

Hannah also boasted her age group's highest time of flight score, which measures the amount of time gymnasts spend in the air.

She boasted around 14 seconds in all three routines and that was added to each round's total score.

She was also competing a voluntary routine with one of the highest difficulty levels (5.7).

Having secured points in each of the two league events this season, Hannah currently tops the league table for her age group and level out of a total of 50 gymnasts.

Hannah's brother and fellow Hi-Tension member Sam Hodgkinson also enjoyed success at the event, winning silver in the League Two 19+ Men’s age group.

Sam, competing in his first National League competition this season along with ten other gymnasts, scored a total of 83.470 after two rounds.

That put him in first place and earned him 100 league points.

However, after the scores were reset, hSam dropped to third in the final voluntary round with a score of 45.065, just 0.6 below first place.

This was a big achievement considering that the difficulty value of his routine was 1.3 marks lower than that of the top two competitors.

Sam's three-round total score was 128.535 while his time of flight was also the highest in his group, at around 15 seconds in all three routines.

Sam is currently fourth in the league table for his age group and needs to compete and earn points at next month's final event in Wigan to seal his place in the final.
