STOKE by Nayland Golf Club will take on Fynn Valley in this weekend's Curry Cup Final.

They won their semi-final against Crondon Park at Three Rivers GC, with captain Paul Champ putting out a strong team.

Stoke won 15-3 to progress to the final of the Curry Cup, which sees clubs from Essex and Suffolk compete on a league basis with two matches at home and two away.

Each team is made up of 12 players, six from Category 1 and six from Category 2.

The three league winners and the best runner-up progress to the semi-finals.

After the morning foursomes Stoke were in a dominant position, leading by five points to one.

In the afternoon, all 12 players go out in the singles matches.

But there was no way back for Crondon Park with Stoke having nine wins, one loss and two halved matches.

Fynn Valley beat Three Rivers GC in the other semi-final, to seal their place in Saturday's final.

Club captain Ian Thompson is now hoping for a second trophy in 2016 after last week’s win in the Essex Golf Union’s Norman Plum Trophy.

Stoke by Nayland GC Ladies gathered for the last main event of year, their autumn meeting.

Elaine Davidson scored 38 points to win the Specialist Shield, an individual competition contested by 46 ladies in the morning.

A quartet of players - Sue Latham, Angela Cudmore, Alison Jennings and Anne Hemmings -each scored 37 points.

In the afternoon, there was a nine-hole greensomes competition on the Constable course.

The winners on the front nine with 17 points were Suzanna Venner and Bev Thompson.

On the back nine, Mal Went and Suzanne Shaw-Smith won with with 21 points.
