FINGRINGHOE'S Seton Tuning secured a second-place finish in the No Limits 8 Hour Endurance Race at Snetterton.

Riding under the motorcycleraceparts.co.uk banner, the three-man team of Phil Seton, Mark Clark and Rick Dickinson finished an impressive five laps ahead of the third-place finishers.

It was a good enough result for the team to secure entry into next month's prestigious six-hour European Endurance race at Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.

Owner Phil Seton said: “What a race! It was such a last-minute project but we pulled it off.

"I have to thank our pit crew of Pat, Gerrard, Connor, Jimmy, Calvin and Tom who came together for us at the 11th hour.

"They did an amazing job for us and everything ran really smoothly in the pits.

"We were reeling the leading team in but just didn’t quite have enough for them on the day.

"All of our riders were consistent and rode clean sessions.

"Apart from my very scary moment on a wet track with slick tyres we were pretty much incident free.

"I’m delighted we proved our worth against an established team and have done enough to go and compete at European level.

"This will be a huge challenge for us but we are up for it!”

Seton Tuning qualified sixth place out of 45 teams, a great achievement considering the team and pit crew were only fully assembled for the first time the day before the race took place.

Riding fully race-prepared Seton Tuning Yamaha R1 1000cc machines, Seton took the first riding stint and entered the first corner in second place.

It quickly became apparent that both Seton and the leading Go Racing Developments team were lapping considerably faster than the rest of the field, as the pair made an early break from the chasing pack.

An early mechanical problem in the form of a stretched chain meant Seton had to pit earlier than planned, throwing out the pre-race pit stop strategy.

But Seton's fast early pace laid the foundations for the race, with the leaders not too far ahead.

Dickinson next took to the track and began a string of impressive sessions, continually bettering his lap times and posting personal best laps throughout all of his allocated track sessions, including a full wet weather session.

And Clark rode smooth and consistent sessions that enabled the team to keep pushing for the top spot.

By the six-hour mark, the leaders had amassed a big lead of more than two laps.

The heavens opened while Seton was out on track, he held his nerve and stayed out on the increasingly wet track on his dry tyres.

The leaders opted to pit stop for a wet tyre change, just as the rain clouds departed and the track dried.

Seton’s pace had slowed to allow for the slippery track conditions but he was pulling lots of time back on the leaders.

Another short burst of rain saw a near crash from Seton but he stayed on board his Yamaha R1 machine to complete his stint and make up the two-lap deficit, helping his team finish a creditable second.
