SD School of Martial Arts' Brazilian jiu-jitsu team gained another haul of medals after entering the Southend Open BJJ tournament.

The team, led by chief instructor and third degree black belt Arlans Siqueira, fought in some tough categories to return with four bronze, two silver and three gold medals.

Bronze medals were awarded to Coryn Morrisson, who, at ten years old, was the youngest on the team and fought up a weight and belt category to win her medal. Josh Kerry, another junior and fighting in his first competition, also placed for bronze in his category.

The three remaining bronze medals were awarded to Wayne Pryor, Chris Payne and Steven Koopmans.

Jamie Hooker was awarded silver in his category after some tough fights and some excellent submissions and narrowly lost the final to place second.

Martyn Morrisson was awarded the other silver medal after fighting up in the open weight division.

He also fought in his own weight category to win one of the team's three gold medals.

The remaining two gold medals went to Leon Sceats and Brad Prior, who was competing in his first competition at blue belt level.
