A NUMBER of different juniors were among the prizes in the latest Coastal Tour event, at Frinton Golf Club.

The main 18-hole event was run alongside the Coastal Cubs competition on the Kirby course and a third competition on the back nine of the Havers course.

Over 60 juniors competed during the day, with a lovely atmosphere and lots of families enjoying the summer-like conditions.

Jago Hepburn, from Harwich Golf Club, scored an exceptional 40 points to win the 21-36 handicap category prize, closely followed by Jacob Lazaro, from Millers Barn, who scored 39.

Will Gee, from Colne Valley, took third prize in the higher handicap category.

In the 0-20 handicap category, Daniel Wallace, from Colne Valley, equalled Jago’s score of 40 points to take the honours.

Reece Balls and Charley Hatley were the other prize-winners from the lower handicap category.

A fine 78 from Frinton’s Jake Wells won him the best gross score of the day and Abbie Henshall, from Harwich, won her first best girl prize of this year’s Tour.

The rapidly-improving Abigail March, from Colne Valley, won the back nine competition, pipping fellow Colne Valley junior Bradley Cattermole.

Colne Valley continued their domination of the Cubs event on the Kirby Course with a victory against teams from Frinton, Millers Barn and Harwich. Cameron March and Edward Reeves, from the winning team, returned the best scores of the day.

The next event is at Millers Barn on Sunday, June 5.
