CLACTON professional boxer Justin Johnson suffered defeat after a hard-fought fight at York Hall, in Bethnal Green, on Saturday.

He lost out on points against towering 6.3ft opponent Tariq Rashid.

“Technically, the lad I was up against wasn’t a good boxer but he came with more ambition then me, hence the outcome,” admitted Johnson (pictured).

“I was more than ready for the fight - fit, strong and ready to go.

“I started well but his height and strength tired me out and his windmills kept on coming.

“I was trying my hardest to break him down with my boxing skills but nothing came off.

“It was a close fight but I think the judges gave the fight to him because of his aggression.”

Johnson thanked his supporters and sponsors – the MoT Place in Walton and Country Fit gym in Thorpe.

He also thanked trainer Mark Massow and manager Greg Steene.

Johnson is trying to raise money through boxing for son Leon, who has cerebral palsy.
