TWO strikes from Alex Gilbey and a late winner from Gavin Massey handed Colchester United a dramatic 3-2 victory in tonight’s East Anglian derby.
The club’s new vice-captain netted early in the second half, after great work from the impressive Joe Edwards and George Moncur.
And he scored again in the latter stages, before Massey grabbed a winner – heading home on the line - to make it 3-2.
Ipswich had taken the lead just before half-time, through Kevin Bru.
And they quickly restored their lead after Gilbey’s opener thanks to David McGoldrick’s penalty.
However, Gilbey and Massey had the last laugh to make it 3-2 in front of an impressive Weston Homes Community Stadium crowd of 4,647.
