CASSIE Cunningham triumphed in Colchester Golf Club’s Ladies’ Scratch Centenary Medal.
Her gross round of 83 was enough to secure her the medal ahead of Mandy Rix (six), who was runner-up for the second year running.
Cunningham, who plays off five handicap, might have scored much better, with a couple of weak holes in the middle of her round letting her down. Philippa Macauley (20) won the Ladies’ Handicap Centenary Medal with a nett 75, one shot ahead of four ladies who all shared nett 76.
Gill Minns (17) was second on countback from Cherie Clark (21), Liz Harrison (29) and Catherine Chick (27).
Colchester GC’s ladies Bronze team suffered a 5&2 home defeat against Thorndon Park.
The first three matches were all losses before Jane Lochore went down the 19th to secure her win.
This score was only added to by Jane Madge, who won her match 2&1.
Cai James (six) won Colchester GC’s Sunday Stableford with 40 points.
Playing off his six handicap, James had a sprinkling of bogeys on his card.
But book-end birdies, plus one on the 16th, gave him a two-point win over runner-up Jonathan Gilbert (six) and third-placed David Speed (ten), after both returned 38s.
Matt Black (ten) and Duncan Stewart (ten) both carded 37 points, to claim fourth and fifth spot respectively.
David Brown won the vets’ stableford with 36 points.
