Witham Town know what their priorities will be when they line up for a crunch relegation battle against their Essex rivals at the Village Glass Stadium tomorrow.

AFC Hornchurch will be the visitors for a game that could potentially go a long way to sealing the Ryman League premier division fate of both teams this year and Witham boss Garry Kimble has said it is one that his side just can’t lose.

Hornchurch currently sit 21st in the table, one place below Witham, who will be looking to bounce back after two defeats against promotion-chasing Hendon in the last week.

Kimble wants to see his team go for a three-point haul tomorrow in a fixture that he has dubbed as a “six-pointer” but knows they can’t afford for the Urchins to head back to the south of the county with a win in their back pockets.

Kimble said: “It’s a massive game.

“It’s a six-pointer, but they are flying and seem to have turned a corner so we have to show our mettle now.

“We know they will be a big strong side so it will be tough.

“Every game is a cup final now and it’s down to the players to handle it.

“What can’t happen is for them to go into their shells.

“If we apply ourselves then I know we can get something from it.

“How do we approach it?

“Well first and foremost, we can’t get beaten, but it’s a bit of both – we need to play not to lose and also need to go for the three points.

“The most important thing, though, is not to lose to one of the sides around us.

“Everyone of us down there is fighting for survival and it’s going to be about who can keep their nerve."
