FC CLACTON secured their first point of 2015 tonight after a battling 1-1 draw at home to Gorleston.
It stopped the rot after eight consecutive Thurlow Nunn League defeats.
Clacton, fighting to avoid relegation from the premier division, made the worst possible start after conceding a soft goal inside just two minutes.
But Wayne Chapman rescued a point just after the hour-mark with a long-range volley that crashed into the net via the underside of the bar.
It was no more than Clacton deserved, having played their part in an absorbing contest, especially in the second half.
They are now seven points adrift of fourth-from-bottom Wivenhoe Town, with one more game in hand on the Dragons.
