Braintree Town manager Alan Devonshire is hoping for some dry weather ahead of tomorrow’s Vanarama Conference Premier game against Macclesfield Town.
A waterlogged pitch sunk the Iron’s hopes of playing their FA Trophy third round tie against Ebbsfleet last weekend and the surface looked heavy when the game did go ahead on Tuesday.
It held up well to the action after a lot of work by groundsmen Bobby Ritchie and Steve Townsend, but Devonshire knows soggy pitches do his players few favours.
He said: “Macclesfield are flying and they’re beating every team they’re playing at the moment.
“It’s another tough game, but hopefully it will remain dry and the pitch will firm up because I don’t think the heavy pitches help us.
“We’ll see and look forward to it on Saturday.”
