VICTORY was sweet for the winners of Colchester Golf Club’s ladies’ Christmas Cakewalk competition.
Linda Freeman, Heather Dennis, Claire Croger and Catherine Chick won by six points.
They collected 57 well-earned points from their 14 holes.
With the course playing very long, it was always going to be a struggle for the ladies.
However, a total of 64 ladies in teams of four did battle, on a frosty but bright day.
Second spot was decided after a complicated countback with three teams involved.
Bridgett Whitworth, Caroline Chambers, Sheila Dornan and Penny Allen secured runners-up spot, with 51 points.
They edged Rosie Helliwell, Cherie Clark, Sarah Turner and Philippa Davies into third place.
In fourth place was the team of Philippa Deman, Maggie Demuth, Claire Withnall and Gill Crayson.
Prizes were also awarded to the winners of Colchester GC’s October and November Medals, Bella Angel and Cherie Clark.
Philippa Deman was awarded an EGU medal for having the four best scores in medal competitions throughout the year.
