Rhys Healey will stay at Colchester United for the rest of the season - but Freddie Sears’ future remains uncertain.

Healey will remain with the U’s on loan until the end of the season from Cardiff City, who have an option to recall the striker if required.

The young striker has scored four times in his 12 appearances so far for the U’s after joining them in September.

However, the future of fellow forward Sears is less certain, with the former West Ham United no closer to signing a new deal offered to him by Colchester.

The U’s leading goalscorer, who has hit the net 12 times this season, is out of contract in the summer and has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.
