Witham Town manager Garry Kimble is targeting points from two tough-looking away days in the Ryman League premier division.

Prior to last weekend’s 3-2 home win against Hampton and Richmond Borough, Witham had lost their previous two games on the road – at Grays Athletic and AFC Hornchurch – but Kimble is looking for better from their next two trips.

They head to Bognor Regis Town tonight before travelling to third-placed Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday and with the premier division table looking tight and Witham eager to stay clear of the bottom four, Kimble has his sights set on a decent points haul.

He said: “I’m looking for four points from the next two games – at Bognor Regis tonight and Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday.

“It will be a tall order, but we need to get ourselves clear of the relegation zone.

“It’s very tight in the division.

“We are on target for the points I thought we’d need to stay up, but I think now, with how tight the table is, that we may need more as teams towards the bottom are picking up results.

“What we need is a buffer of points to keep us clear.

“We have characters in the squad to do that, but we need 11 of them and that can be tough because we have a young side.”

One blow for Town is that striker Jamie Guy, who scored twice against Hampton and Richmond Borough, is likely to be missing tonight due to work commitments, while John Watson is also unavailable.

And they have also been hit by the news that the experience of Paul King is likely to be absent again from their back line as he is struggling with a back injury.

Kimble added: “Kingy wants to play, but he needs to rest and hopefully two weeks out will allow him to recharge the batteries.

“He needs to look after himself while he’s out, but I hope he will come back refreshed when we play on the Saturday after Christmas.”
