Heybridge Swifts crashed out of the Essex Senior Cup at the hands of Waltham Abbey.

They lost 3-1 against their visitors on Tuesday night with their only goal coming from Charlie Gregory.

The result followed hard on the heels of Saturday’s 4-2 defeat at the hands of Ware in Ryman One North on Saturday.

Burnham Ramblers, however, made progress with a 3-2 win against visiting Bowers and Pitsea.

Ross Adams gave the visitors the lead on nine minutes.

But just before half-time Ramblers pulled level through Dave Collins.

And it was the home side that took the lead after the break when Emmanuel Johnson made it 2-1 on 61 minutes.

Isaac Aubynn then made it 3-1 on three minutes later.

Bowers were then reduced to nine men when Ross Adams and Julian Simon Parsons were sent off on 68 minutes as Gregory Akpele also received his marching orders for Ramblers.

Bowers pulled a goal back from the penalty spot through Lewis Manor on 79 minutes.

But Ramblers held on to go through to the next round.

Alan Kimble secured his first win as Maldon and Tiptree manager with a 6-0 win against Coggeshall Town in the Tolleshunt D’arcy Cup.
