Emerging amateur Ben David is hoping a good showing on an international golf tour will set him on the road to becoming a golf professional.

The Colchester Golf Club teenager flies out to Dubai on Wednesday ahead of next week’s Dubai Creek Open, which kicks off the MENA (Middle East North Africa) Tour.

David is hoping to continue his impressive form at the event, having won the Eden Trophy at St Andrews last month.

The Tour, which lasts until November, will see emerging young professional and amateur players battle it out in seven different tournaments over the coming weeks, each with the individual aim of enhancing their blossoming reputations.

It will take place at venues such as Ghala Valley and Dirab Golf and Country Club and culminating in the Golf Tour Championship at Al Ain Equestrian Shooting and Golf Club, starting on November 1.

David said: “I’m really excited and really looking forward to it."
