Rovers much the better side.however col u were not as bad as the score implies. Tranmere used their big men well using the long ball and route one all after noon.l haven't experienced a fan exodus like today.be lucky to see 3000 against Yeovil.

Josh Thompson is not up to the job, nor are several other players. Certainly the referee and linesman are not up to the job, for the corner that led to Tranmere's first goal should have been a goal kick, as everyone in the South stand could see.
The ineptitude betwen Thompson and Walker gave them their second goal. After that it was downhill all the way, with one or two shining exceptions, notably Johnny White.
The mass exodus after their 4th goal was indeed shocking, but the U's players can't complain. Most of the shuttle buses seemed to have departed, full, by the time of the final whistle, which I have never seen before.

Have to agree here. I blogged on this site during the week saying that I find it amazing that Tom Eastman is not in the side and that a player like Jon Jo should be in midfield as Clifford is far to lightweight.

I must just add to this Boris. Though I gave him my full blessing when appointed Joe Dunne is also certainly not up to the job. It took him a fair old while to bring Johny White back into the fold considering prior the awful performances of other certain full backs. To be perfectly honest,hand on heart I have been dissapointed with Joe. Again today not playing Tom Eastman baffles me. Well still got to keep taking the pills and get on with it.

I've never felt so down leaving the ground today. The writing is on the wall....league 2 football next season. The club is a mess.

Sure enough Boris, you are a valued blogger around here, but I am unsure as to how much more of your blatant favouritism for John White I can take.
To be honest and I mean no harm, but he never gets forward, he never wins a tackle first time around and he never plays the right ball either. He has never been anything other than a team player who is liked by a loud minority of fans.

Every player was awful today. Freddie sears and Jabo are no exception. We need a response against Yeovil now just to get back to basics.

Some wont agree, but I think the club became destablised after the John Ward sacking, he should have been given more time.

I dont think Joe Dunne should take too much blame either for the poor performances, Keeping solvent is crucial for the future of the club, just now, loanee players are the only option.

My grandson is really down just now, but I gaurentee he'll be up and raring to to go come Tuesday and Yeovil. Up the U's.

Super, thanks for being so kind to me, but I'm sorry you feel I bang on too much about John White. The fact is that, as Crazy has said, Joe Dunne overlooked him for far too long, and several contributors on here seemed to think that the answer to our woes was to ignore the current squad members and bring in yet more loan players who would bust the club's budget. I am old fashioned enough to believe that a local boy committed to the club is worth a lot. That's why I was disappointed that Carl Pentney was never given a chance here.
Johnny White may never be a star, he may never even score a goal, but he got right forward and produced a good cross in this game which was not converted into a goal but that was not Johnny's fault. He does try harder than most to keep the ball on the ground. I'm sure he was embarrassed to be named as man of the match, but he deserved it none the less. And what is the matter with him being a team player? Don't we need players who play for the team, rather than for themselves?

Anyway, your point is taken, and I shall try my best to go easy on John White for a while. But if the miracle happens and he scores the winning goal against Yeovil, or indeed against anyone, I shall not be able to ignore it.....

I listened to Joe's feeble excuses on BBC Essex after the game and I earlier this week gave him the benefit of the doubt and wrote on this website encouraging every U's fan to stick with him and get behind the club! What a mistake! I have to say that over the 45 years I have supported the U's, this has probably got to be one of the most embarrassing, inept, lacklustre performances! I look particularly at our 'motivational' captain, Thompson, and our 'Premier league standard keeper' Walker and new left back Garmston. We looked pathetic! These players just do not cut it when you are needing players to grind out results! Mr Cowling, the ball lies in your court again I believe. I respect you for your financial support for the club, but if you have the club at heart, you need to think seriously about the managerial capabilities of Mr Dunne. I gave him the benefit of the doubt but now, like many fans, the time for him has come to depart. His inexperience is evident for all to see. I know he will be gutted by this reaction and probably blame the fans for this ill feeling,but life is like that. If I performed badly in my job I would expect repercussions. So must Joe Dunne - or he must do the reasonable thing and leave. There is still time for someone to turn this around but it does need fresh blood - and quick!! We are very quickly sinking into the mire and our first division status is sitting on a knife edge. One more home defeat on Tuesday and other results going against us, we will be in trouble and almost finished this season. I personally do not want to hear the excuses from Joe anymore, just be honest and admit that your team capitulated and gave up hope after 3-1! When you brought on Bond for Wright and Morrison for Porter, the writing looked on the wall. Anyone who would bet The U's will survive the drop need to go to the doctors to get their head tested. This inexperienced side is going down and you need to believe it. For the second week in a row it was men against a young boys team.

Cowling is the problem with Colchester, having only time for his Tiptree projects leaving the first team to go to rack and ruin. There is not enough good senior professionals down the spine of the team to carry the youngsters and; on top of that, we have a rookie manager who has made too many mistakes and is still making them.

The trouble is with all dictatorships there is no democracy and, if you sack JD who is going to want the job under Cowling's guidance. This man may be paying the bills, but as a club he is ripping the heart out of it. This will be the second relegation he has orchestrated with no signs that life in League 2 will be any better. There has not been even a sniff of a cup run in any of the cups under his tenure and, if I had to speculate, I would say he's the man most likely to take this club out of the football league altogether rather than create a side able to gain promotion. With poor gates this season, the budget will need to be cut considerably further next season, so what hope is there and what encouragement is there to buy season tickets in the close season. This club is spiralling down faster than a bob sleigh run and I don't see anything likely to change it.
