Joe Dunne believes Walsall’s recent resurgence can act as inspiration to his Colchester United players tomorrow.

The struggling U’s host the Saddlers at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on the back of a club record nine league defeats.

Colchester have not won since beating Bury in mid-November and they face an in-form Walsall side who have won six of their last seven matches in League One.

However, Dean Smith’s side had not won in 16 matches, prior to their victory over the U’s in mid-December.

And Colchester boss Dunne sees that as just the encouragement his players need, ahead of another vital game at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Dunne said: “What Walsall have done since beating us can be an inspiration to us.

“They’re a great example of what you can do in this league.

“You have to keep believing and once you get on those runs you can beat anyone, especially at this stage of the season."
