Colchester United have completed the signing of striker Dominic Samuel from Premier League club Reading on a one-month loan deal.
The England under-19 international is set to go straight into the U's squad for their trip to play Doncaster Rovers, on Saturday.
Colchester boss Joe Dunne was keen to boost his firepower, after his side scored just once in their last five games.
Meanwhile, left-back Dan Potts has been recalled early from his U's loan by parent club West Ham United.

But good luck to the lad, lets hope he can get us a few goals that we are so badly missing.
Oh and please sign a new goalkeeper as well please!

The only play to really come out of the Christmas period positively was Drey wright, and the players that turned around the season earlier in the season were both young (watt and eastmond). Lets give youth a chance, it can't hurt fingers crossed he can change things.
And even better news potts has gone!

This new signing is actually what is known as a 'Youth Loan' ( I think ).
West Ham United have a hunch that Colchester United can't afford the type of players they need to maintain Division 1 status.
Potts has come and gone and it would be interesting to see what money, if any, was exchanged during his short stay at WHCS.
Fair play to Joe, he's trying everything.
I don't think there have ever been so many comings and goings at Colchester United in the middle of a season in the history of the club - although I stand to be corrected on this.
What this is telling me is that we have managed to assemble a squad of players that include perhaps as many as a dozen or so who are not considered good enough for Division One football - and more worryingly, perhaps Division Two football judging by what happened at Chelmsford.
That's a lot of players, and that's a lot of money too going down the plughole.
My priority would be a goalkeeper.
One of Ben William's assets was to organise those in front of him and to read situations in a micro second - if your goalkeeper is unable to do this the defence will have far more work on their hands.
Hence, if effect, we do not have the unit of a defence currently.

It Appears that dunne has a limited transfer budget at the moment, hence the loan signings.
I would guess that Wordsworth was due to sign elsewhere, so he was rested, then the offer was not high enough, and so he played again. While colchester wait for a better fee. It is deals like Wordsworth that we need sorting so that we can bring in new blood on his wages/fee. O'toole will return fresh and game ready. Looking like a straight replacement, freeing up all woodys wage on a replacement striker.
So all in all, before anyone gives dunne/new lad a hard time, he could be the 1 month gap between woody leaving and money spent on a scorer.
