Joe Dunne will step up his search for more new faces after Colchester United’s losing run continued.

The U’s boss is hoping to clinch another new signing today, as he attempts to boost his side’s flagging fortunes in League One.

Colchester are two points above the relegation zone after Crawley Town inflicted a seventh successive defeat on the struggling U’s with a 3-0 victory at the Broadfield Stadium.

Dunne admitted that he is on the lookout for new blood and is keen to sign a striker to boost his goal-shy Colchester side, with MK Dons forward Jabo Ibehre still high on his list of targets.

Dunne said: “We need more help and more experience.

“We’re looking at a couple of positions and we’re hoping to do something in terms of a player this week.

“We need to get goalscorers into the team and we certainly have players who can create opportunities."

30k was enough for Yeovil to sign madden from Carlisle, got 9 goals out of 15 (2 against us). There are cheap players out there

You need to get of the under achievers and dead wood first Joe!

The whole spine of the side from goalkeeper through central defence and central midfield on to striker/target man needs replacing with experienced quality performers. Once that is done we will be on the right road but until then we're going struggle I'm afraid. We also, need to move out lazy, couldn't careless performers pronto.

I think for the rest of the season all we can hope is for some good loan signings - the arsenal duo were great and it is no coincidence that we had our best run with them in the team.

Would like to see a striker who knows the club coming in with some experience and guaranteed goals

They won't go till their contracts expire. That means they are with us till the end of the season, or longer in some cases. Could loan them out to lower league sides so that at least their wages, or part thereof anyway, are covered. Problem is: who would want them?

Can't see us attracting anyone with any real quality. Who would want to join a sinking ship?

Funny really we need someone that can score goals, something we haven't done for several weeks. Solution try to sign the striker we had on loan for that period. O.M.G. Whats wrong with this picture? It's new blood we need preferably with experience. So lets get rid of the dead wood and see if any old pro's would like a job as player coach (seems to be the in thing with our Tiptree setup) then just hope and prey that JD could turn our fortunes on the pitch round.

Everybody seems to have their own views regards what positions need to be improved. I'ts not the easiest job in the world, what Joe has taken on board. For instance on Tuesday he had to play Heath who is a nothing more than a non league player. This was only due to missing players and then having to stick with Cousins in goal who gave away two simple goals. To me a goalkeeper is the most important position that needs replacing. Someone that can command his area and organise his defence. At the moment its a shambles. I was also a liitle bemused in what Joe made comment on in this article.
WE NEED TO GET GOAL SCORERS INTO THE TEAM AND WE CERTAINLY HAVE PLAYERS WHO CAN CREATE OPPORTUNITIES.

Well Joe,I never saw that on Tueday, players that are creative who can make chances. We could have had Rooney playing for us on Tueday and he would still be waiting in the middle for cross or pass. Come on Joe dont give us that sh-t. Were not stupid.

Heath isn't the only one, Potts is horrendous. Wilson I think would also struggle in league 2. Magnus needs to find his mojo as he to has been very poor. Izzet is well passed his best (and his best was never great), Morrison has improved his hold up play and work rate but needs to get the goals, and Massey needs to be more consistent, also bean has been off compared to his early season form and Wordsworth needs to decide if he wants to play football or not.

Wordsworth, wasn't he a poet, because sure as hell he ain't a footballer!

There was also Bishop Wordsworth, who gave his name to Salisbury grammar school, but he wasn't a professional footballer either.
