FC CLACTON hero Jake Plane believes his side can take heart and encouragement from their efforts in the first-half of the season.

The wide man added two more goals to his tally in Tuesday’s nerve-jangling 4-3 victory against Wivenhoe Town.

Kevin Coyle and Matt Eve were also on target in the Boxing Day encounter.

Now Plane wants his side to keep their standards high and believes that in order to keep progressing, they have to keep winning at the Rush Green Bowl.

They return to their home ground for a match against Gorleston on January 6.

“We have to make our ground hard to come to – a bit of a fortress,” he said.

“We need to win our home games and then any points we get on the road are a bonus.

“The fans turn up every time and it’s always good for them to get a win.”

Clacton finish their 2017 fixtures with a trip to Stowmarket Town on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
