FC CLACTON’S Jake Plane has rejected another seven-day approach from a rival club – and says there is no chance of him “jumping ship”.

The Seasiders wide man notched his seventh goal of the season in Saturday’s 2-0 success against Ely City.

He doubled his side’s lead with a cool second-half finish after Kevin Coyle’s penalty had put them in the driving seat, at the Rush Green Bowl.

Afterwards Plane confirmed that another club made contact about a possible move last week – the second approach he has received in a month.

“I had another offer to move on last week, from a very good club in this league,” he told the Gazette.

“But I don’t want to jump ship.

“I love it here and want to stay where I am.

“I believe we’re building something special and if we can finish in the top ten, we can look to do even better next season.

“We’ve got the players to do that and the club is growing, both on and off the pitch.

“It’s flattering and good for me and good for Clacton, in a way, if other clubs are looking at their players. It shows we’re doing well and catching the eye.

“I feel a lot of the boys could play at a higher level but, personally, I feel at home here.

“Everyone gets on and everyone wants to graft for each other.

“Results and performances like the one last weekend confirm I made the right decision, if any confirmation were needed.”

Clacton are 14th in the Thurlow Nunn League premier division table heading into Saturday’s trip to Histon (kick-off 3pm).

They then have an eagerly-awaited derby at home to bottom team Wivenhoe Town on Boxing Day (11am). Plane was delighted to play his part in last week’s victory – a success that ended a four-game losing streak.

“It was nice to end our little run of defeats and nice to score again, but the most pleasing thing was the clean sheet,” he said.

“We had our backs to the wall a bit in the second half but everyone dug in and put their bodies on the lines.

“Ely didn’t test us too much. They had a few chances but nothing clear cut.

“Everyone put in a real shift and when that happens, you get rewarded. We know we can keep clean sheets – this proves it – but we’ve been disappointed with some of the sloppy goals we’ve conceded recently.”
