FC CLACTON defender Joe Moore believes improved fitness levels have been a key factor in the Seasiders’ revival.

Having only won once all season, the Seasiders have now picked up maximum points from their last two – beating Long Melford and now Ely City, both at the Rush Green Bowl.

The latter was a 4-2 success on Saturday and Moore shone in the heart of the defence, alongside former skipper Adam Daniels.

“We went out there determined to do our best and we got the result we wanted,” said the former Colchester United youngster, who was released by the U’s when he was 16.

“We kept pushing until the end and I was really pleased for (hat-trick hero) Jason (Joseph).

“Things are definitely turning for us, as the last couple of results would suggest, and our fitness levels are a big reason for that.

“They’re immense now.

“(Manager) Kieron (Shelley) has drilled it into us that fitness levels are key and everyone is buying into that and working very hard.”

Clacton’s next Thurlow Nunn League assignment is at neighbours Wivenhoe Town on Tuesday (kick-off 3pm).

It is there last game of 2016, before hosting Haverhill Rovers on January 2.

“We just want to keep pushing on now, hopefully winning again next week,” added Moore.

“I can’t wait for that one.

“We haven’t had that winning feeling much before the last fortnight, but now we want it more and more.

“Kieron is sorting things out.

“He’s getting better, more experienced players in who know what they’re doing and we’re thriving now.”

Moore also had spells at Torquay United and Cambridge United after leaving Colchester, before more recently representing Braintree Town.

He hurt his back in a car crash which stopped him playing football for a while, but he hopes to revive his career at Clacton.

Meanwhile, there was also a return to winning ways for Clacton's reserves, in the Essex and Suffolk Border League on Saturday.

To complete a good day for the club, Billy Wales, Ben Saunders and Lyndon Bramhall on target in a 3-0 win over Tiptree Jobserve.
