Condon hoping for a bumper goal tally

AARON Condon is setting himself a lofty goal target next season.

The FC Clacton striker has been one of the club’s stars of pre-season, smashing a hat-trick in Tuesday’s 9-1 romp at Cornard United.

He also netted in last week’s 3-0 win at Long Melford.

Now, feeling confident and optimistic about the new Thurlow Nunn League premier division season, Condon is setting himself a target of exceeding 20 goals.

“I feel really sharp,” said the long-serving player.

“Last season I struggled a bit at times.

“I scored 16 goals and was joint top-scorer with Kevin Coyle.

“But I was still a bit disappointed.

“We both missed chances and should have finished with more than 20.

“But we’ve done a lot of work on our finishing in training – something we haven’t concentrated on in the past – and you could see that the other night.

“Hopefully practice will make perfect and I’m definitely going for 20-plus.

“All strikers should set a high target.

“There’s no point starting the season with anything less.”
