FC Clacton boss Andy Taylor praised his side for a much-improved performance – despite slipping to their fourth straight defeat, at Diss Town on Tuesday.

The Seasiders bucked their ideas up after a dismal display in Saturday’s 2-0 Ridgeons League premier division defeat at the hands of Gorleston.

But it was not enough to prevent a 1-0 defeat at Brewers Green Lane.

Nevertheless, Taylor was pleased that his troops reacted positively and believes a repeat performance could be enough to secure three points from this weekend’s match at Dereham.

“It was a much better performance and we were unlucky to lose,” said the Clacton manager.

“The least we deserved was a point, if not all three.

“The lads gave their all and dominated the game.

“We started well and got on top, without being able to put the ball in the back of the net.

“Had we scored early on, I’m sure it would have been a different outcome.

“But that’s the way it’s going for us at the moment and we’re in a bit of a rut.

“However, if we keep playing like that we’ll soon start turning these losses into draws or wins.”
