CLACTON Golf Club held their captain's drive-in on Sunday.

New club captain Alfie Smith drove-in an enormous 201 yards and he was watched by past captains Steve Scott, Ted Hurst, Robert Gillespie, Kevin Hill, Norman Messenger, Robert Foster, Tony Stevens, Alfie Smith, Peter Hart, Ken Headworth, Peter Hewett and Peter Cross.

Meanwhile, throughout last year's summer season, Clacton's Pheasant Pluckers managed to raise £1,500 for Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Captain Richard Borstel recently handed over a cheque to Peter Sillett, from the charity, along with Alan Corbyn, who will be the Pheasant Pluckers captain for 2018.

This year the group will be raising funds for the Colchester Hospitals Charity (CoHoC).

Clacton's ladies played a high/low competition and Kath Sinnott and Janine Wyman came first with 51 points.

In second were Gilly Cullen with Ann Wright, with 47, pipping Chris Crossfield and Verity Coulthard into third, with 46.

The coronation foursomes were played and Sinnott continued her winning streak, this time with partner Lorna Forder.

The pair managed a score of 35 points.

Second place went to Denise Pink and Wright, with 33, with third place taken by Crossfield and Di Kedge, with 32.

In the men's section, Stacy Wilkinson won the club's division one March Medal with a fantastic nett 67.

In second place was Steve Yates, with 70, and in third, on countback, was Paul Millard, also with 70.

The division two winner, on countback, was Kevin Turnbull, with a nett 65.

David King was second, also with nett 65, while third place went to Ryan Scotcher, with a nett 67.

Keith Sampson won the club's March Midweek Medal with nett 73.

Tom Heffer came second on countback.
