COGGESHALL TOWN stormed back to the top of the Thurlow Nunn League premier division after an impressive 3-0 victory at Saffron Walden.

Nnamdi Nwachuku, Jamie Shaw and Kamal Guthmy were their scorers in Tuesday's match.

The Seedgrowers have won six of their opening seven premier division fixtures and are top on goal difference, with Felixstowe and Walton United hot on their heels and back up to second after beating Kirkley and Pakefield 2-1.

Elsewhere, STANWAY ROVERS suffered another defeat - their sixth in eight games - after losing by a single goal at home to Long Melford.

The Suffolk club registered their first victory of the season in the process.

There was another eye-catching victory for BRANTHAM ATHLETIC, as they roared to a 4-0 success at managerless Ipswich Wanderers.

Ben Newson netted twice and he was joined on the scoresheet by Craig Hughes and Jack Smith.

Wanderers are now bottom of the table after this latest defeat.

HALSTEAD TOWN met first division rivals HOLLAND FC in the first round of the Essex Senior Cup and won 2-1 at Milbank Stadium.

Harry Salter put the Humbugs ahead, connecting with a through ball and nodding past onrushing keeper Dan Beeson.

Tom Holdstock then levelled after tapping into an empty net, following an error by Halstead keeper Joe Fowler.

The winner followed in the second half, though, when Jamie Baker's cross was neatly finished by Karl Andrade.

Halstead now face a second-round trip to either Stansted or Wadham Lodge.

There was also a match in the Essex and Suffolk Border League premier division on Tuesday night as Gas Recreation won 4-3 at Harwich and Parkeston.
