THE Summer Series of dinghy racing continued in perfect conditions at Walton and Frinton Yacht Club.

In sunshine and ten to 15-knot breezes, race officer Andy Evans set a good course for the 11 dinghies that sailed down to the starting area in the Twizzle.

Both fleets started together and first out of the line was Martin Jenkins, in his Phantom.

Simon Hipkin, in his Hadron, had set himself up for a perfect start but stalled on the line, allowing Jenkins to get away.

With the first leg being a beat out to the Wade, Jenkins was able to clear his air and lead round the first mark.

Having recovered from his slow start, Hipkin's Hadron was keeping pace with the Phantom and this was the pattern for the rest of the race.

Jenkins crossed the line 20 seconds ahead of the Hadron but with the handicap of the new boat currently 16 points different, Hipkin took the win by 30 seconds on corrected time.

Third in fleet one was Heidi Wright, who is getting to grips well with her new Laser Radial.

In the slower fleet two, Newland twins Eleanor and Sophie battled it out with each other for the lead.

Eleanor won the battle and took first place.

In third was new member Malcolm Smith, in his Comet.

The next race is on Sunday.
