CLACTON Golf Club travelled to Playgolf Colchester for their seventh and final Essex Ladies' Golf Union Bronze Shield match.
After a hard-fought match, they recorded their sixth victory to give themselves a very good chance of being in the semi-finals later in the year.
The Clacton side consisted of team captain Chris Crossfield, Brenda Lord, Sonja Strutt, Pat Messenger, Jennie Corbyn, Heather Bradfield and Kathy Sinnott and they achieved a 4-3 victory.
Meanwhile, Clacton's men played for their June Medal.
In division one, for handicaps of 12 and below, the winner was Gary Lee, returning an excellent score of 70-5-65.
In second was Ryan Weeks, with 79-12-67, and in third was Simon Smith, with 75-7-68.
In division two, for handicaps of 13 and above, the winner was Steven Rockell, with 94-24-70.
In second place was Simon Bates, with 85-14-71, on countback from third-placed Michael Trubshoe, with 94-23-71.
Clacton's Essex Golf Union Thornton Plate team travelled to Risebridge Golf Club, near Romford, for their second-round match and, despite a strong performance, they lost 6-4.
Clacton's seniors played their June Medal and the winner was Stephen Smith, returning a good score of 85-17-68.
In second place was Jim Wiggam, with 86-14-72, on countback from third-placed Brian Walker, with 90-18-72.
