CLACTON'S walking football team were crowned champions of a tournament organised to run alongside the Tour de Tendring cycle event, on Sunday.

It took place at Dovercourt Leisure Centre and the other teams in action included Walton Swifts and Little Oakley.

Clacton got off to a solid start, drawing 0-0 against Oakley and then winning 2-0 against Walton. Both goals were scored by Daryl Heffer.

In their third game, Clacton's winning streak continued with a 1-0 win against Oakley, thanks to a goal from Andy Hitch.

Clacton's final game resulted in a 1-0 against Swifts.

However, at the end of the tournament they had still done enough to be crowned champions.

n Anyone interested in playing walking football is welcome to attend sessions held at Clacton Leisure Centre every Friday, from 5.30pm until 6.30pm.

The cost is £3 per session.
