Medal joy for Links at the English National Championships

The event is the biggest domestic competition and was held at the Leicester Arena.

Day one saw Finnley Clack, Liam Hope and Charlotte Hope on the mats.

First to compete was Clack but, unfortunately, he lost out in the first round.

Liam Hope managed to make the quarter-finals but then also bowed out.

Both joined together in the 12 to 13-year-old team and managed to secure a well-deserved bronze medal.

Charlotte Hope, competing in the girls' 14 to 15 years’ cadet section, breezed through four rounds to secure the gold.

She then joined together with her team-mates in the 14 to 15 girls' team section where they managed to secure the silver medal.

Ethan Day, in the 14 to 15 male cadets -52kg, also won gold in the final.

On the second day, Maisie Raymond, in the 16 to 17 female section, managed to secure her second English title, in the -56kg section.

Mitchell Thorpe competed in the 16 to 17 male category and, after four rounds, he secured the gold medal and title of English champion.

Emily Griffiths, in the senior women -55kg, had a great day and managed to secure the bronze medal in this senior section.

Sam Day was in action in the senior male 18 years+ -67kg category but unfortunately lost out in the final.

However, he still secured a well-deserved silver medal.

After two days of competition, eight Links competitors had competed for English titles.

Between them they returned home with four gold, one silver and three bronze medals.
