Their team consisted of captain John Kemp, John Stuck, Bob Seggie, John Wacker, Tony Burnside, Doug Nichols, Derek Woodrow, Roger Looker, Bill Highstead, Brian Langmead, Ray Fage, Bill Clarke, Laurie Farrugia, Peter Cross, Malcolm Pitcher and Terry Musslewhite.

Meanwhile, Clacton's Gilly Cullen and Sonja Strutt travelled to Harwich and Dovercourt Golf Club to play their first-round match in the Daily Mail Foursomes.

They now progress to the next round, with their opponents to be announced soon.

Clacton's ladies played a stableford hi-lo competition and the winners were lady captain Di Kedge and Erica Beaumont, with 57 points.

In fifth place, also with 54, were Sue Carter and Anita Davey.
