CLACTON Cricket Club are about to ramp up their preparations for the new season.

Having narrowly missing out on promotion last year, the Seasiders are determined to go one better in 2017.

"We're putting together a good team of local players - people that really believe in the club," said stalwart Gary Kirk.

"We're very much a family-driven club who really want to provide cricket for all ages.

"Schools are not really focused on providing cricket these days so we're the only opportunity for our youngsters to play.

"If we don't provide the opportunity cricket will die in the area - something we would not want to see."

Clacton are holding their first junior net of the season on Sunday, at Clacton Leisure Centre, between 4pm and 6pm.

These nets are open to all juniors, boys and girls, between six and 16.

The club are always looking for new adults too.

If you are interested, come along to the leisure centre on Sunday, from 2pm until 4pm (before the junior nets).

Introduce yourselves and be part of the cricket club for 2017.
