THE annual match between The Ship and the Tendring Gents golfing societies took place at Frinton Golf Club.
It was a well-supported and competitive event.
Benign weather conditions prevailed, making the going somewhat easier than of late, with little wind.
The result was a draw, 4½ to 4½, with The Ship retaining their title following last year’s win.
James Johnston was the non-playing guest of honour.
He is a founder-member of The Ship society.
Meanwhile, Frinton's ladies played a medal in challenging weather conditions, raising the CSS to 75, or +2, for the day.
Three recent winners topped the leaderboard.
Last week’s greensomes winners, Caroline Gard and Yvonne Davies, finished first and second with 76 and 77 netts.
Donna Oliver was in the money again with a nett score of 78.
All the winners’ handicaps remained unchanged.
