CLACTON Golf Club seniors’ captain Tony Burnside made a special presentation to J's Hospice ambassador Barry Townsend.

The cheque was for £2,500, which was money the seniors' section had raised throughout the year at functions and matches.

J’s Hospice is a charity that helps improve the lives of young adults with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.

Meanwhile, the winners of the seniors' winter Top Dogs competition have been announced and Ray Justice and Dave Gilligan prevailed with 111 points.

In second place were Laruie Farrugia and Dave Gilbert, with 102, and in third were John Willson and Mike Gurry, with 96.

Clacton's ladies' section played their January singles stableford and the winner was Jennie Corbyn, with 28 points.

She won on countback from second-placed lady captain Di Kedge.

In third was Sue Gurry, with 26 points, and in fourth was Lin Euston, with 25, on countback from fifth-placed Cath Fage.

In sixth place, on countback, also with 25 points, was Pat Messenger.

Clacton's men played their ninth Top Dogs event.

The winners were Paul Pidgeon and Matt Baker, with a bogey score of plus 11.

In second were Glen Harms and Robert Meekings, with plus ten, on countback from third-placed Barry Hewitt and Andy Hobbs.

Clacton's juniors played their latest Top Dogs competition.

The winner was Wilf Elliott, returning 43 stableford points, and in second was junior captain Josh Bethell, with 41.

In third was Henry Goodwin, with 39.
