LEADERS Brotherhood H took a significant step forward in their push for promotion from division two of the Clacton and District Table Tennis League with an important 7-3 win over Brotherhood I.

Stewart Murray won his three to notch up a tenth successive treble but it was a close-run 11-13, 11-5, 11-8, 9-11, 15-13 against Mark Ratcliffe in a 40-minute marathon that came within a whisker of going to expedite.

Grant Sharpe took two for the winners, including an 11-7 in the fifth success against Scott Campbell, with Graham Parkes taking one.

Ratcliffe won a couple for the I team and Campbell one.

Brotherhood D moved into second place following an 8-2 win over Walton C, with Russell Hillier and Paul Alden undefeated.

Walton's John Long enjoyed an 11-8 in the decider win over Lee Harvey.

No-one stayed unbeaten as Brotherhood F defeated Windsor Buzzards 7-3.

There were two each for Brotherhood's Barry Allen, Lee Allen and Sandie Isaac, with Pete Bloomfield getting a couple for the Buzzards.

Three for John Marshall and a pair from Tony Robinson saw the Tigers home 6-4 in the all-Nomads clash with the Jaguars.

Caroline North won two for the losers.

Windsor Harriers were 8-2 winners against Brotherhood E.

An unbeaten Isabel Barton was the Harriers' best player on the night.

In division three, Walton D regained top spot after a 10-0 win over Windsor Ospreys, although it was a tough 12-10 in the decider for Jane Young against Robbie Strutt.

Windsor Penguins edged past Brotherhood G 6-4, with Debra Found winning three and Alan Charman two.

Paul Metcalf took a couple for Brotherhood.

Despite a hat-trick from Arthur Wells-Garrett, Windsor Kites just got the better of Nomads Ocelots 6-4.

Carl Hubbard and Jack Haylett won two each for the Kites and Mick Simson one.

Chris Jones and Denise Thompson stayed unbeaten as Nomads Caracals defeated Nomads Leopards 8-2.

And although it was 10-0 for Windsor Swallows against Brotherhood J, Paul Dale struggled to beat Georgia Ayton 11-7 in the decider and Harley Wood 11-9 in the decider.

In division one, James Denyer starred with a hat-trick as Nomads Panthers had a narrow 6-4 win against Brotherhood C's top trio.

John Monk beat Kevin Gowlett 11-9 in the decider but failed to make it a maximum, losing 12-10 in the fifth to Oli Reynolds.

Windsor Condors closed the gap at the top with a 10-0 victory over Walton B, although Felipe Rodriguez was taken the distance by both Derek Willis and Paul Meikle.

Windsor Eagles got back to winning ways by defeating Windsor Kestrels 9-1.

Phil Smith and John Pattrick both took trebles.

Brotherhood B were 6-4 victors against Nomads Lions, with Gracie Edwards taking her three.

Martin Edwards won two but lost 12-10 in the fifth to Roger Hance, who won twice for the losers.

The handicapped singles tournament takes place this Saturday at Windsor's St James Hall.
