BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT have received two seven-day approaches for star striker Aaron Condon.

The prolific front man took his tally to 18 goals with a brace in Saturday’s stunning 6-2 FA Trophy first qualifying round victory at Metropolitan Police.

He has made the smoothest of transitions to Ryman League football, having stepped up from Thurlow Nunn League neighbours FC Clacton in May.

And his goals and talent have not gone unnoticed on the local non-league circuit, with Ryman League premier division pair Billericay Town and Leiston both making approaches.

Regent boss James Webster says his player deserves such recognition – but is hopeful he decides to stay at North Road.

“Aaron’s done fantastically well since joining us in the summer,” he said.

“He’s had a couple of spells in the Ryman League before, having played for both Needham Market and Maldon and Tiptree.

“But for whatever reason, it didn’t work out either time.

“With us, he’s getting a run in the side and he’s really stepped up to the plate.

“He carries such a goal threat and looks like he’s going to score every time he gets a sniff or half-chance.

"He’s flying and the lads really like and respect him.

“It’s no surprise that there’s been interest in him from other clubs.

“When you’ve got 18 goals by the end of October, it’s no wonder that clubs sit up and pay attention but I’m hopeful and confident he’ll want to stay.

“He’s a loyal lad who’s enjoying his football here.

“It took a lot to persuade him to join us from Clacton, so he’s not one to move around for the sake of it.”

Saturday’s victory meant Regent were in the hat for yesterday’s second round draw at Wembley Stadium and they were handed an attractive home tie against fellow Essex side Harlow Town.

The Hawks, who are seventh in the Ryman League premier division, advanced after a 1-0 success at Uxbridge.

The match will take place on Saturday, November 12, and the winners will pocket a cool £3,250.

However, Regent must now switch their attention back to Ryman League division north and an Essex derby at home to WITHAM TOWN tonight.

Adam Flint’s side bowed out of the Trophy after losing 1-0 at Biggleswade Town on Saturday.

Ryman League division north pair MALDON AND TIPTREE and HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS have no game tonight and are next in action on Saturday.
