FAMILY duo Keith Potter and Josh Bethell won the Pybus Cup at Clacton Golf Club.

The granddad and grandson pairing were up against Paul Euston and Perry Richards.

By the fourth hole, Euston and Richards were one-up.

However, Potter and past junior captain Bethell dug deep and struck back, with the latter striking the ball with authority and distance to turn at the tenth tee two-up.

From this point on, Potter and Bethell closed the match out, winning the Gold Leaf competition 5&4.

Meanwhile, Clacton held the Committee Salver.

Due to the demise of the golf and social committee, the directors of the club decided to invite the ladies' and seniors' committees, along with the handicaps and competitions committee, to play as a thank you for organising and running so much golf during 2016.

This year’s winner was handicaps committee member Keith Buxton, returning a good 35 points.

Club chairman Bert Foster thanked all present for their hard work and outlined what will be a very special 2017, when club will celebrate its 125th birthday.

Club captain Nick Smith then had the pleasant task of presenting the salver to Buxton.
