CLACTON played host to Cressing in their latest Essex Superleague fixture.

After trailing 2-0, they took a 6-2 lead - only to lose the last four games and end up drawing 6-6.

Curtis Hammond was absent due to PDC commitments in Dublin.

The first game didn’t set the match alight as Alan Currivan (18.81) and James Wilson (18.96, comb 18.88) lost against Stuart Mortimer (17.56) and Jamie Palmer (21.08, comb 19.25).

Adrian Genery (20.19) and Eddie Keary (22.83, comb 21.41) didn’t get going in their game and lost against Rhys Hayden (27.05) and Stewart Thorogood (24.06, comb 25.67).

Wayne Bloomfield (30.61) and Coen Wiekamp (26.47, comb 28.60) were also looking likely to suffer a defeat as opponents Robbie Caton (34.44) and John Abbott (20.39, comb 27.42) were throwing at a double before the Clacton pair got to a finish.

However, some excellent heavy scoring from the duo piled on the pressure and Wiekamp finished on 58 to secure a brilliant comeback.

Andrew Currivan (28.72) and Keith Farthing (28.47, comb 28.60) were impressive and consistent from start to finish as they levelled the pairs scoreline with a victory against Tim Franklin (25.06) and Mike Hancocks (30.00, comb 27.30).

The first singles game was an interesting match up, as Colchester League division one and two singles champion Wiekamp (24.39) won an explosive opening leg against Colchester League division three and four singles champion Hancocks (21.84), with both players hitting a maximum 180 after the first nine darts thrown.

Hancocks levelled proceedings before Wiekamp stepped on the gas to win the next two legs in 15 and 18 darts for a 3-1 victory.

Andrew Currivan (20.59) started off brilliantly against Mortimer (17.58), winning the opening leg in 15 darts with an impressive 136 finish.

Currivan missed darts at a double in the next leg which set the tone for the game but the Clacton player ran out a 3-0 winner.

Bloomfield (31.00) was brilliant in his game, despite losing the opening leg against Franklin (28.62).

Bloomfield responded by winning the next three legs in 16, 18 and 15 darts for a brilliant man-of-the-match performance and, for the second time this season, he recorded the highest winning average of the week in the Essex Superleague.

Wilson (20.88) has been searching for his first Superleague win since joining the ranks last season and his time had come with the Clacton man finishing well as he defeated former Essex youth county player Thorogood (21.20) 3-0.

Wilson also secured at least a draw for his side with his win.

Alan Currivan (22.52) found himself in the same position as the previous game, quickly falling 2-0 behind against Abbott (24.50).

He dug in for the second week running to claw the game back to 2-2.

However, the Clacton player lost out on the deciding leg against the throw for successive games as Abbott claimed Cressing’s man-of-the-match.

Keary (23.08) won his opening leg against Caton (23.11), but Caton came back strongly with some good finishing to run out a 3-1 winner.

Genery (22.68) went down 3-0 against Palmer (23.12) and then, in the last game of the night, Farthing (23.70) rued missed doubles as former Lakeside qualifier Hayden (23.86) took full advantage and ran out a 3-0 winner.

Both players hit maximum 180s.
