A YOUNG Clacton Cannons team suffered defeat in their opening pre-season friendly, against the reformed and experienced Cornard Kings.

Even though it was the first fixture in their pre-season programme, the Cannons were still disappointed to lose 50-37.

The vast majority of the team were much younger than their opponents and their speed and fitness levels were apparent throughout.

However, the Kings did a great job on the boards, therefore limiting the Cannons' chances.

Both teams would have hoped to score more, but, equally, would have been pleased with their defensive efforts.

There were defiantly positives that both sets of coaches and players could take away.

Meanwhile, Cannons 2006, supported by Tendring District Council’s Clacton Leisure Centre, are pleased to be committing to the 2016/2017 Community Jump Into Sport campaign.

This has been designed to encourage as many families as possible to watch and engage with sport.
