A NEW champion has been crowned in the Clacton Eight Ball Pool Singles League.

Darren Collison made his debut appearance in the league this year and, after the first month, found himself at the top of the premier division.

That’s where he stayed for the remainder of the season.

He finished undefeated, winning nine of his 11 matches with draws against David Finch and Glenn Sibbons.

A great effort from former champion Phil Ledgerton put him in second place, with Billy Kyle and Steve Forrest third and fourth respectively.

It was a double celebration for Collison, as he also won the knockout competition, which runs in conjunction with the league.

He is the first person in the league's seven-year history to win both the league and the cup.

The Clacton Singles League is an annual pool competition open to all players of any ability.

It is played in a league format but players play as individuals rather than teams.

The next season starts in March and further details can be found at www.clactonsinglesleague.leaguerepublic.com
