By Mark Tuxford STANWAY Rovers produced a dominant display as they claimed all three Thurlow Nunn League premier division points at home to Ipswich Wanderers.

Jamie Shaw and Jack Cawley were on target for Angelo Harrop’s men, who moved up to six with a third league win in a row.

In the opening quarter, Jack Clowsley sustained a nasty looking head injury that required lengthy treatment, with the Rovers winger eventually replaced by Daniel Thrower, who played a part in the opening goal.

Thrower’s deflected shot mid-way through the first half fell to Shaw and the striker powered his way through the Wanderers defence and finished expertly to give his side the lead.

In the second half, Rovers doubled their lead and Thrower was again involved when his pin-point corner was met by the head of Cawley, who rose above his marker to nod past Ipswich goalkeeper James Bradbrook.

By now the home side were by far and away the dominant side, with new loan signing Sam Cowler rarely troubled in the Rovers goal.

However, the away side did manage to pull a goal back; Darius Laws was in the right place at the right time to tap home from a yard out after a Wanderers corner wasn’t dealt with.

Billy Hunt was extremely unlucky not to have got himself on the score sheet, when in truth Stanway could have won even more convincingly.

But apart from a nervy few minutes after Ipswich pulled a goal back, Harrop could be pleased with the way his side were comfortable in possession and created chances for large periods of the game.

There was also a premier division win for BRANTHAM ATHLETIC, who picked up three points as Sean Gunn's second-half goal was enough to secure a 1-0 victory.

In division one, COGGESHALL TOWN moved five points clear at the summit with a 5-0 victory against Dereham Town Reserves.
