FRINTON Lawn Tennis Club held their second mixed invitational tournament, at their venue in Holland Road.

Players competed for the annual Frinton Recreational Tennis Award.

It was a 16-player, random selection competition with games played on a round-robin basis.

The sun shone and the players hit their stride with some brilliant tennis.

The scores were very closely matched, but the highest on the day were secured by Georgia Mosey and Barbara Davidson, who drew with 26 points apiece, closely followed by Nigel Amos and Bill Greeno, who scored 24.

The tournament is run as a fun way for players at all levels and abilities to play people they would not normally encounter.

It is a tournament with a twist and each year there are different rules, in terms of how the trophy is won.

The 2016 winner was non-member Sarah Fulcher, from Little Clacton Tennis Club.

Tournament organiser and 2015 winner Mary Milner said: "I cannot stress the importance of getting out on those grass courts while you can.

"We had a great line-up this year and it was great to see committee members, Frinton members and external players hit the courts in unison. A fun day was had by all."
