CLACTON Golf Club held their 2016 Ladies' Championship.

Expectations were high for this 36-hole scratch event and the eventual winner was Fay Trigg (75-73 = 148).

In second was Katy Yates (76-76 = 152), in third was Jackie Bright (83-76 = 159) and in fourth was Brenda Lord (84-76 = 160).

Meanwhile, Clacton members competed in the Seve Ballesteros Trophy.

The winner, proving practice does pay off, was Brady Diplock, with 44 stableford points and a new handicap of nine.

In second was Danny Thomas, with 41, and in third was Andy Duffin, with 38.

Clacton's men played for the St Helena Hospice Salver and the winner, with a very impressive 72-9-63, was Adam Stringer.

In second place was Diplock, with 79-11-68, and in third was Brain Vasey, with 81-12-69.

Clacton's junior golfers played in their July Medal and leading all the way was junior captain Riley Faulkner, returning a very good score of 75-6-69.

In second was Josh Bethell, with 79-8-71, and in third was Wilf Elliott, with 83-11-72.
