THE 100 Club Extravaganza was held at Frinton Golf Club.

Since it was so close to American Independence Day, the Texas Scramble, open to teams of four, had an American theme.

The stars and stripes were raised to mark the shotgun start and the big winners of the day were the team of Jack Brooker, James Taggart, Dick Groves and Luc Brown, with a score of 59.3 nett.

In second were Graeme Dodds, Andrew Bailey, Tony Nicholas and Dan Leno, with 60.4.

The best mixed team score was achieved by Chris Hemingway, Lily Taylor, Hamish Stubbs and Mike Leonardi, with a respectable 62.1.

The ladies' section has been very busy.

Before all the wet weather, the ladies played for the Franklin Cup, a stableford competition for women with handicaps over 25.

Ginny Richardson won it with 35 points.

Sheila Attrill continued her winnings ways, coming in second with 33.

Caroline Gard and Jan McLellan both scored 31, with the former awarded third place on countback.

The playing conditions were a bit more difficult for the 10th EWGA medal, but Joan Stevenson came out on top on countback with a nett score of 79, just ahead of Sheila Attrill.

Margaret Dean was third with 82 nett.
