MILLERS Barn seniors welcomed a team from Braxted Park to play in a four ball better-ball matchplay competition and the result was a 3½-1½ victory for the hosts.

The home team, led by Jeff Cripps and Dennis Bruce, took on an away side led by Alan Mason and Peter Smith in the opening match and honours were even at the end.

Frank Warbey and Brian Bacon lost four and two to Michael Welch and Adrian Simmonds as Braxted posted the first win.

However, there were victories for Millers Barn as Doug Chaplin and Alan Bacon won four and three against Dave Saunders and Dave Powell and Steve Dow and Chris Davies won by the same score against Roy Perry and Viv Barclay.

Millers Barn loaned two players to Braxted too even the sides up and the result was Rod Russell and Dave Maynard (Millers) winning against Alan Brand and Steve Lennard (Braxted).

The CHAPS played for their monthly medal on a wet and very windy day.

Both front and back nine scores were very low considering the conditions, though, with several players coming in at nett par or better.

The final result on the day saw new member Doug Chaplin winning the Medal with a score of 82-28-54.

Second place went to Chris Davies with another great round, 90-28-62 and third place went to Mel White with 82-19-63.

The winner for the front nine was White with a three under nett 31 and the back nine winner was Rod Russell with a one under par nett 30.
