GREAT Bentley's under-14s produced a great performance to seal victory in the League Cup final.

After finishing as runners-up in the A League, they were determined not to let more silverware slip through their fingertips and ended up beating Elmden Rovers 3-1.

After ten minutes, Max Robertson was on hand to guide the ball past the keeper, after good wing play from Toby Finch.

Robertson then doubled his tally with a great volley that looped over the keeper.

Elmden pressed and forced a couple of good saves from keeper Jake Allwood.

Bentley soon added the best goal of the game.

Defender Rory Watson played the ball to Finch, who in turn crossed for Robert Dick.

He flicked it on for Robertson, who controlled the ball and clinically finished for his hat-trick.

Dick had the ball in the net but had it ruled out for offside.

Kai Ridgeon ran his socks off and the solid back four of Watson, Charlie Hesketh, Jordan Chaplin and Bill Phipps stood firm until 10 minutes before the end, when Elmden scored.

Harry Peace, Harry Gilders and Luis Hemingway were brought on to shore up the defence and they kept Elmden at bay to ensure a 3-1 victory.

Before the trophy was collected by skipper Sam Howe, the match ball was awarded to hat-trick hero Robertson.

Elsewhere, Frinton and Walton under-16s had reason to celebrate after winning the Open Cup.

They beat league champions West Bergholt on penalties, after the final had finished 2-2.

Louie Marzec scored both their goals in normal time and man-of-the-match was Tom Green.
