ESSEX Wado Ryu Karate member Kyla Griffiths showed her quality at the British Open Karate Championships, winning the under-nine Kumite.
Despite her size, she fought with a cool, calm head and let her karate do the talking.
There was strong opposition with 42 competitors in her category, including national team members from other European teams.
Other members of the Clacton-based EWRK squad received bronze medals for Kumite and Kata and they were Kiera Thomson, Lockie Thomson, Hayden Gouge, Steve Gandolfini and Tracey Radley.
Over the past few months, EWRK have gone from strength to strength in terms of their competition appearances and they have an ever-growing squad.
They hope to enjoy more success at the World Games in July.
