THERE was an early end to this afternoon's Essex and Suffolk Border League contest between FC Clacton Reserves and Colchester Athletic.
The division two contest was abandoned midway through the second half when there was a sickening collision between Seasiders goalkeeper George Evenett and a Colchester forward.
The clash was so severe that the referee brought proceedings to an early end and an ambulance was called.
Both players were taken to Colchester Generel Hospital.
Evenett suffered an impact injury but thankfully no break.
The Colchester player, however, is thought to have broken his leg.
Clacton's first team had no game today.
